3 Things You Didn’t Know About the Laugo Arms Alien Pistol

Must read

Here are some things that can throw off accuracy with a handgun, besides the short sight radius and the low mass that that results in high felt recoil:

High bore axes that magnify the effects of felt recoil; the fact that the sights reciprocate with the action of the slide (on handguns that this affects) and jerky actions like direct blowback.

These, and other things, all make it hard to shoot a handgun accurately. Anyone that has done so would be lying if he or she said otherwise.

That being the case, these are three things addressed by the Laugo Arms Alien pistol, a revolutionary handgun platform that produces ridiculously low recoil and muzzle flip, and which is the first of its kind in many ways.

It Has a Ridiculously Low Bore Axis

The Laugo Arms Alien pistol doesn’t just have a low bore axis. It has the lowest bore axis in the world, at 1.7mm under the shooter’s wrist.

A bore axis above the shooter’s wrists magnifies the effects of felt recoil and more importantly amplifies muzzle flip.

The Laugo Arms Alien, with its effectively negative bore axis, produces nearly imperceptible muzzle flip, at less than 5°.

The result is that shooters can get the sights back on target faster for more confident, more accurate follow up shots.

It Has a Gas Piston Delayed Blowback Action

A large number of semi-automatic handguns are built around either direct blowback or recoil-operated actions.

They are relatively reliable, but they can produce a lot of recoil, especially in the case of direct blowback.

The Laugo Arms Alien sports something found only very uncommonly in handguns; gas piston delayed blowback. It’s sort of like a hybrid between the MP5’s roller-delayed blowback and the AK’s gas piston operation.

It is far, far smoother than direct blowback and produces a lot less recoil and pop than direct blowback as well, making it a far better action type for a handgun the main purpose of which was recoil mitigation.

It Sports a Non-Reciprocating Top Rail

When you fire pretty much any handgun with a slide, when the action cycles and the slide moves to the rear, the sights go with it, and that doesn’t just mean your irons, but whatever’s mounted to the rail, including any optics.

This creates two monumental problems. One, it incurs a lot of stress on fragile optics like reflex sights and red dot sights, but more materially, it completely interrupts the sight picture.

One second, your sights are on target, the next second, they’re somewhere else completely. When the action resets you need to get your sights trained back on target before you can execute a follow up.

The Laugo Arms Alien pistol sports a non-reciprocating top rail that does not cycle with the rest of the action, leaving your sights right in place for faster follow up shots, and incurring less wear and wear on any slide-mounted optics that you run.

In other, simpler words, it is one of the best designs currently available for anyone looking for a low-recoil, game-changing 9mm handgun.
